On account of Agni's promise, the devotion to dharma that is there in your mother and the great energy that is there in you, I had not come here earlier.
अग्नि के वचन के कारण, तुम्हारी माँ में जो धर्म के प्रति समर्पण है और जो महान ऊर्जा तुममें है, उसके कारण मैं पहले यहाँ नहीं आया था।

O sons! You had no reason to worry about your death. All of you are riṣi-s, learned in the knowledge of the brāhman. The fire knows that well enough.
हे पुत्रो! आपके पास अपनी मृत्यु के बारे में चिंता करने का कोई कारण नहीं था। आप सभी ऋषि हैं, ब्रह्मज्ञान में पारंगत हैं। अग्नि यह भली प्रकार जानती है।
Vaiśampāyana said: O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Having thus reassured his sons, Mandapāla took his wife with him and leaving that region, went to another region.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: हे भरत वंश के वंशज! इस प्रकार अपने पुत्रों को आश्वस्त करके मंदपाल अपनी पत्नी को अपने साथ ले गया और उस क्षेत्र को छोड़कर दूसरे क्षेत्र में चला गया।
The illustrious lord with the piercing rays consumed the kindling Khāṇḍava forest, with the assistance of the two Kṛṣṇās and brought terror to beings and the world.
तेजोमय भगवान ने दोनों कृष्णों की सहायता से, भेदने वाली किरणों से जलते हुए खाण्डव वन को भस्म कर दिया और प्राणियों तथा संसार में आतंक फैला दिया।
The fire drank up rivers of fat and marrow. Agni was extremely satisfied and appeared before Arjuna.
अग्नि मेद और मज्जा की नदियों को पी गयी। अग्नि अत्यंत संतुष्ट हुए और अर्जुन के सामने प्रकट हुए।
Then, surrounded by masses of Marut-s, the illustrious lord of the gods descended from the sky and spoke these words to Pārtha and Mādhava,
तब, मरुतों की भीड़ से घिरे हुए, देवताओं के शानदार भगवान आकाश से उतरे और पार्थ और माधव से ये शब्द बोले,
"You have accomplished a feat that is difficult, even for the immortals. I am pleased. Choose boons that are difficult to obtain and beyond what humans can get."
"आपने एक ऐसी उपलब्धि हासिल की है जो अमर लोगों के लिए भी कठिन है। मैं प्रसन्न हूं। ऐसे वरदान चुनें जिन्हें प्राप्त करना कठिन हो और जो मनुष्य प्राप्त कर सकें उससे परे हों।"
Pārtha asked for the boon that he might get all of Śākra's weapons. Then Śākra fixed the time for the receiving.
पार्थ ने वरदान मांगा कि उसे शक्र के सभी हथियार मिल जाएं। तब शक्र ने प्राप्त करने का समय निश्चित किया।
"O Pāṇḍava! When the illustrious Mahādeva will be pleased with you, that is when I will give you all the weapons.
"हे पांडव! जब महान महादेव तुमसे प्रसन्न होंगे, तभी मैं तुम्हें सभी हथियार दूंगा।
O descendant of the Kuru lineage! O Dhanañjayā! I will myself know when that time has arrived.
हे कुरु वंश के वंशज! हे धनंजय! जब वह समय आ गया तो मुझे स्वयं पता चल जाएगा।

आग्नेयानि च सर्वाणि वायव्यानि तथैव च मदीयानि च सर्वाणि ग्रहीष्यसि धनंजय
Because of your great asceticism, I will then bestow on you all my āgneya and all my vāyavya weapons and all my other weapons and you will accept them."

Vāsudeva asked for the boon that he might always be loving towards Pārtha. The lord of the gods happily granted this boon.

Having done so, the god who was the lord of the Marut-s, took his leave of the fire and returned to heaven with the thirty gods.

Having consumed the forest with its animals and birds for five days and one, the fire was extremely satiated and ceased.
पांच दिन और एक दिन तक पशु-पक्षियों सहित जंगल को भस्म करने के बाद आग अत्यंत तृप्त हो गई और बंद हो गई।

जग्ध्वा मांसानि पीत्वा च मेदांसि रुधिराणि च युक्तः परमया प्रीत्या तावुवाच विशां पते
He had eaten flesh and drunk fat and blood. O lord of the world! He was filled with extreme joy and spoke to them.
उसने मांस खाया था और चर्बी और खून पिया था। हे विश्व के स्वामी! वह अत्यधिक खुशी से भर गया और उनसे बोला।
"O warriors! O tigers among men! You have gratified me to the point of extreme bliss.You now have my leave to go where you want."
"हे योद्धाओं! हे मनुष्यों में बाघ! आपने मुझे चरम आनंद की सीमा तक संतुष्ट किया है। अब आप जहां चाहें वहां जाने के लिए मेरी अनुमति है।"
Having been thus granted leave by the greatsouled fire, Arjuna, Vāsudeva and the dānava Māyā,
इस प्रकार महान आत्मा अग्नि द्वारा अर्जुन, वासुदेव और दानव माया को छुट्टी दे दी गई।
all three of them wandered around some time. O bull among the Bhārata lineage! They then seated themselves on the banks of the beautiful river.
वे तीनों कुछ देर इधर-उधर घूमते रहे। हे भरत वंश में बैल! फिर वे सुंदर नदी के तट पर बैठ गये।
